I mean I know he said it was for the Acura but I'm trying to find the dimensions for different models and it looks like they're all the exact same thing

How about one from an ATV/4wheeler..?maybe a more compact one from a smaller vehicle would be easy to modify..or maybe other alternatives nobody thought of..? AE86 corolla rear end swap? were our rear axles used in any other vehicle or based off of something else that might have a more common LSD or locking diff option..or a whole rear axle swap...ford ranger rear axle or something..

Looks to me like phantom grip sells one that is specific to the Tercel. Here is the link. I was considering getting one and doing an in depth write-up/installation.

AE86, rwd corolla rear axle should be an easy swap, the mount points and dimensions are the same as the Tercel4wd rear axle. It has a larger diff, and there are three brands of LSD available for it. If you can locate one there is also a good chance it already has an LSD in it since it was an option on the GTS corolla.

the only issue is the axle flange is pattern is 114 mm dia rather than 100 mm. you might be able to alter the rear axle flange to get the same dia bolt circle, would take some welding and redrilling. I do not know if the Tercel4wd half shaft axle would swap out, the corolla axles may be larger dia.

This would be a very costly option, unless you get lucky.

The conversion kit, though less than ideal, seems a less costly alternative. Perhaps better for our drive train as well, it would transmit lower forces to the drive train and transmission as well.

my car is 95% driven on pavement so my first instinct is to keep it open...i have an Isuzu Trooper im planning to turn into the Safari truck..as well as an F350 dually diesel. Put synthetic lube in it and leave it alone..

I wish their website actually posted the dimensions of them so I could compare what the difference is between the car versions

I do not understand, one of the website links goes to ebay and shows a convertsion kit for $18. the other a kit for $329.

are these the same, or similar convertion plates? do they come with the same parts?

$325 is a bit of a bite, though not bad to get some LSD action (though I suspect it is not as functional as a real costly LSD). but the same parts for $18, (knock off?) might be worth the effort to try it out, since you would not have much money into it.

Some one needs to try this out. I may have a extra diff to sacrifice to such an experiment.

I'm definitely going to get one but I need to know if the Toyota one on their website is the same dimensions as all the others

Back in the 80's Hotrod magazine put just the block and springs in an open Ford 9 inch. The pressure on the side gears was enough to lock it up to smoke both back tires on a mustang. Hard to say about long term durability. Probably beats welded spiders gears!

I found a knockoff one on Canadian amazon for 30 bucks... I would get it but have no idea how it works (?)

The way diffs work has always seemed like gearing wizardry...

I would be interested in putting this in the rear so I can use the 4wd on the street if need be.

These are for either but you still wouldn't be able to do 4wd on the street
