4wd selector shaft seal part number?

Post by Petros »

I was planning on doing a gear oil change in my trans and I noticed my 4wd selector shaft was leaking. I know others have replaced this part but neither NAPA nor AutoZone had an application for this seal. I went on to rock auto website and they have something called a "shift shaft seal" for the trans, but the picture is wrong and worse the dimension is too large dia, though they appear to have the shaft dia correct.

Any one have a part number for this seal? where did you get it?

you might see if he has the part #, but i'm sure toyota can figure out the correct seal pretty easily. be sure to post the part # once you get it. you might also make a guide on this job, as it's come up a few times.

I have been looking for one for myself as well. The Toyota part number is 9031216001 but is not available anywhere including Toyota (States/Japan). It has been discontinued. I have cross referenced the Toyota number with every major seal company out there with no luck. Looks like some one that might have some NOS lying around could be sitting on a gold mine.

I do have one of these seals in Cali in my storage unit that I bought about a year ago with intentions of changing but never did. Now I really need it since it seems that the string seal didn't quite do the trick.

Good luck to anyone looking for one of these seals and if you find them in quantity please share the wealth with those who need them. Don't be a hoarder.

Peace
