sounds like he ran it without oil "has hole in the engine block below the oil filter". It threw a rod through the crank case, number three cylinder. so the engine is scrap metal. But finding a 3ac or even better a 4ac to swap in should be easy.

Someone should save this car, sounds like he will send it to the crusher if he does not sell it!

the number three connecting rod journal is the first one to get oil starved. it has the longest oil flow path from the oil pump to the #3 journal. So a hole in the block about the location of the oil filter (#3 connecting rod) is a sign of running without enough oil.

I wonder if it sold, or if he gave it to a wrecker to haul off for scrap metal.

funny quirk of the oil galley configuration, total path to #3 longer than # 4 journal, or perhaps it is the configuration does not allow as much flow in #3 as 4. But it is always #3 that goes.
