It's not mine. It's just a random ad I found. It's not even in my city (I'd have to take a ferry to get there) so I can't even look at it.

Hey everyone, first post on the forum but I've been a lurker for awhile. I live in Vancouver so I inquired about this ad right after it was posted on Craigslist as I've seen this car around. Seller sent me a photo of the crack, which I've attached to this post. I don't know much about what it would take to fix and I don't know anyone who could weld it, but thought I should post this in case anyone's interested.

Looks like someone tried to repair it already. Not the greatest looking.

based on the pictures, it is full of rust. that is likely the reason for the crack, so it would take a lot of cutting out the rusted parts, and welding in good metal. Not sure it is worth that price, particularly as a parts car, most of the fenders look gone, so either it becomes a "swamp whomper" with lots of welded plate, or it is only good for parts.

I would not attempt to fix it, not worth the risk nor the trouble. likely there are a lot of other places weakened by rust as well.

Thanks Petros. I almost considered talking to a local welding shop and showing them the photo to see what could be done, but yeah the rest of the car is likely in no better shape and would take way too much work/cash.

the only way i would consider having the frame repaired would be if the rest of the car was mint. if it requires any other time- or labour-intesive work, it's just not worth it IMO. i think it's best suited for parts at this point. that's my 2 cents.

Well, the frame is strong enough to hold the jack up just behind it.
