Tool To Remove difficult crank timing gear

Post by xirdneh »

I have had troubles with a few Tercels trying to get the crank timing gear off.
On a few cars it was stuck on there pretty good.
After breaking one while trying to pry it off i began to heat them with a torch
That worked but I did not like doing it that way
I always try penetrating oil overnite first but that does not wok on the tough ones
I made this tool and it worked great.
Could not get this site upload to work so i had to Flickr

Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.

Clever!
If OK, I'm gonna move it to Tool Talk.
EDIT 4/8/13 - I also added the pix for you.

Awesome tool. I love to see everyone's creativity on this site. Good work! Next time I come across a seized pulley I'll make my own.
