Re: Oil Pan Gasket Leak...TURTCEL
Yeah, that is what you would have to do. It is difficult to clean all the surfaces too, but putting in a gasket would be the perfect solution.

Re: Oil Pan Gasket Leak...TURTCEL
That is a really tough call. I think that trying to replace the oil pan gasket would be next to impossible to do with the engine in the car. The pickup tube and cross member preventing removal of the pan. It is hard to suggest what to do since the repercussions of it still leaks is disastrous. I thi...

Re: 'The Terrorcel'
I believe exhaust valves need to be replaced with special ones (can't remember what they were called) to handle the higher temperatures. You can run a vehicle exclusively on propane but it needs to be built for it.

Re: Manual Transmission Removal and Re-Installation
Gee Turtcel, Sorry to hear that you haven't enjoyed doing the clutch job. If you have never pulled a transmission before there is a learning curve, and the next time is always easier.

Re: Remove Smog Pump? (Corolla Alert!)
I believe those air pumps were for cleaning up emissions. I've seen many vehicles with those pumps disabled. Not sure what it would do for gas mileage except that the engine has one less thing to drive, like the ac compressor. It wouldn't make that much of a difference for mileage. If you remove the...

Re: Need to replace my clutch...TURTCEL
One thing I would add to installing the clutch and flywheel. I always use blue loc-tite on the threads along with the proper torque on the bolts. Just that extra insurance. I usually pull the input shaft from the trans just to make removal easier. It isn't that difficult, but you do need to lower th...

Re: '83 T4WD for parts on eBay
$1000 for something that was parked for five years? Unreal. I have paid $100 for complete cars that I have driven for several years.

Re: Drivers Side CV Boot is toast...
Here in BC I have paid over $100 for front bearing and seals. Very expensive in my mind. That's why I made my own tool to press them in myself.

Re: Need help with drive line failure
I believe that if you are coasting you would want to be in neutral with your foot off the clutch. Like what was mentioned earlier the pressure plate holds the clutch in place and prevents catastrophic failure. The clutch is not designed to spin freely for long periods of time at high rpms. It is jus...

Re: Drivers Side CV Boot is toast...
Hi Scout, I managed to make my own tool for pressing the bearing in and out. I bought a piece of 3/4 " ready rod and made a puller out of it. I have saved several bearing races and large washers over the years and was able to press the bearing out and back in without difficulty. The hard part w...

Re: Won't run unless pedal to the floor. EGR?
Yes, that was the key way. It took quite a bit to get it out of the crankshaft. The groove it wore in the pulley was remarkable. It had to be loose for such a long time to create that wear. Needless to say that car was pretty gutless when it ran at all.

Re: Won't run unless pedal to the floor. EGR?
http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t508/marlinh/IMG_2909.jpg I hope this works. This is a picture of a crank gear that must have been loose for years. The fellow who was driving this car was stranded on the side of the road. The car ran like crap, and intermittently would run better. The timing wa...
