Re: terc #6
Might still be a clogged radiator, does cranking the heater to the max help at all? Upper radiator hose?

Re: 84 Auto Terc - 94,000 miles - Kentucky
I don't see the bad rap myself, if you're used to automatic cars in the first place (and possibly going slower). It isn't louder when going 70 than say my old 1995 Neon. I think the neon was louder! I'll have to fix the carb on my sedan before I can really make any useful power comparisons. That sai...

Looking for working or rebuildable 3AC head / engine
Yeah! I'm looking for someone who has an old 3AC head sitting around that they don't need anymore. Working or not, as long as it can be fixed.
Or anyone within reasonable driving distance of Farmington NM that has a 3AC/4AC that runs or is a rebuilder.
Do 4AC heads bolt onto 3AC blocks?

Re: Valve stem seals
She didn't seem to smoke much this morning! Perhaps there is a light at the end of the tunnel  Considering oil is $2.70 a quart unless I find it on sale, I'm hoping I'll wind up with a worthwhile additive at some point that'll pay for itself :p Dad actually called me and suggested finding a hea...

Re: Valve stem seals
We did but his tester was being wonky, going to try it again after we procure a tester! One thing for sure, the inside of this engine is going to be spic and span when we're done! Oh, another thing, when I first changed the oil, the oil was clean up until it burned two quarts of oil and now th...

Re: Valve stem seals
Seafoam in the oil didn't help. Still ate a quart of oil for a 200 mile trip, average speed 65-70 mph, almost 4k rpm? My uncle, following me in a rental, reported light smoke when accelerating from stop lights that stopped when we hit a steady speed. On the way back I tried going 55 mph only, 3200 r...

Re: rear defroster not working
Okay, I'll let you know!
I just printed out the wiring diagrams from the FSM and taped them together to try and sort out a few wiring messes.

Re: rear defroster not working
Peter / David: thanks, my 1st gen only has the fuse panel, driver's kick panel and engine fuses! I was looking for exactly that sort of picture, but couldn't figure out where it was in the FSM. The rear defogger part of "body electrical" will also be very useful! Marlene: ah ha! I was thin...

Fast idle not engaging randomly when cold
This is the first tercel with everything "on" the carb. The fast idle is random when she is cold. The first day we had her, I started her up when cold and the fast idle kicked in and took her up to 2000-2500 rpm. Since then, it is random, sometimes fast idle will kick in when she isn't so ...

rear defroster not working
Turn the switch on, defroster idiot light comes on, no increased electric load. Checked defrost circuit breaker, it works. 12 volts to one leg of the CB. Disconnected both wires at the rear glass, no voltage to either wire with the key on and defroster switch on. Checked connectors on glass with ohm...
