Re: Another Seattle AL25 member
Today I removed the front fender that I had installed as a replacement to the damaged one. Once I got it off, cleaned up, scuffed and wiped down with mineral spirits I masked off the wheel arch trim and started to spray it with the 848 color spray paint I ordered. I used one can to put down two coat...

Re: Another Seattle AL25 member
I also bought a 4000 lb WARN winch for the front. If you actually plan to use that winch to get yourself unstuck, you're going to want something that is MORE than double your vehicle's loaded weight. Not sure what a T4WD weighs, but I can promise you it is over 2,300 lbs. dry. You'd be better off w...

Re: Wanting to wire up new stereo with subwoofers
I worked for car toys as an installer when I was younger. You will definitely need a better battery and the biggest alternator you can get your hands on. A large 4 farad capacitor and second battery might be needed as well. The two 1400 watt amps alone will draw 230 amps at peak and that doesn't eve...

Re: Another Seattle AL25 member
Nope. I need to drive it right now. After I finish putting the Diesel motor for my 4Runner back together I'll pull the transmission and see what the problem is.

Re: Another Seattle AL25 member
So I have been daily driving my T4 lately and that seems to be the best way to find all of the problems. The front main seal was leaking so badly that I had to add oil twice a day. I went through a gallon in just two days. So replacing it became a priority. When I got it out I took a closer look at ...

Re: noisy power steering pump.
That usually means there is air in the system. If you have a mighty vac try sucking out the old ATF from the reservoir and filling it with new. Also try turning the wheel from lock to lock several times with the engine running to try to bleed any air bubbles out.

Re: Another Seattle AL25 member
I may take you up on that offer. First I think I need to figure out what I need. If it turns out that I need shift rails or forks for fifth gear it would be nice to have a ready source.

Re: Another Seattle AL25 member
I was considering getting a second transmission and rebuilding it since the current one has 220,000 miles on it and is likely a ticking time bomb; Although, I must say that it really does shift nicely. It doesn't suffer from worn out syncros at all. That is a good tip about the two wheel drive 5th g...

Re: Another Seattle AL25 member
So I took the Tercel out on the highway for the first time today and when I shifted into fifth gear nobody was home. So I guess I'm back down to a five speed transmission. I don't know what one of the previous owners must have done? They might have removed the shift fork or possibly the entire fifth...
