Re: A Tercel MPG's Question

I just drove my tired 86 tecel 4wd wagon from Mn. to my brother's place in Nor-Cal. When keeping it at 60mph or less, I got 35MPG on the nose. When kicking it up to 65-75MPH I got 30-33. I find this amazing for many reasons, most notably the fact that this car is literally falling apart. The CV's a...

Well it's been two and a half years. What have we learned from your experiment? Besides your engine runs hot now.

Re: Sold my tercel

You got that right arch! I put Mitsu's right at the bottom of the jap pile along with Isuzu. I hated seeing those pull in. Free estimates really suck on a car that isn't worth it to begin with. That was before they were 10 years of age. While I can certainly appreciate the concept, even if it was ha...

Everything pre-FWD had a spindle that was almost always integral with the knuckle. Old habits can be hard to break....

Re: Get prepared...the end is near....?

OK, how about this takza. Without copy and pasting, how are you/or would recommend getting prepared? Are you doing anything about it or just trying to perpetuate fear on the net? Maybe I should go ahead and stop paying all my bills and keeping the T4's rolling as it just doesn't matter anymore. Bett...

Re: front brake vibrations

Rust/debris between hub-rotor causing runout and/or wheel torque. Any wheel bearing play now? Hub nut could be loose if there is. Maybe you just bent the rotor shield. Machining or replacement of the rotor will likely be needed, plus what ever else it may be ready for after 10 years. That's a pretty...

Rare Minnesota find

Low mileage and looks like minimal rust. Unfortunately(or not) my money has to go somewhere else right now, otherwise it would be all mine.

Petros- The aerial thing isn't as defining as it seems. My identical twin 85's have one left, one right. It's the newer one that has the older placement.

Could be a lot worse ways to spend a hundo.

Re: Rear brake shoe application warning!

Parts situation these days is pretty grim. Wagner rotors/drums are all chinese and now, unless you find some old stock, and it looks like friction may be going that way too. Watch out for the thin wall rotors!(on vented app's). I was told by my oreilly's rep that he had to throw out the wagner rep t...

Re: Carb kit application warning

No heat issues whatsoever. Not dissapointed in the slightest with the webers. As far as longevity, that depends on how good/bad it currently runs. My 84's engine wouldn't have made it this far on it's original carb. Also because of the large improvement and miles driven, the carb was paid for in abo...

How much for shipping to Minnesota?

Just kidding. If I was going to go that far, I'd rather have a 70's XB!

Re: Replacing front bumper and cover on '86 FWD

The whole thing comes off with just the four bolts at the top of the frame where the bumper meets it.

Just turn sigs and side support bars right in front of the front tires otherwise.
