Ogedei - A friend had this same habit some years ago. His solution was to put a tiny Velcro dot on his instrument panel and another on a small plastic card he made up bearing the reminder " Turn off lights ". Actually, his reminder was much more graphic than my stated message, but you get...

Well, guys - I hope "Goldie" is not listening... I saw and drove this car yesterday - and believe me, if I had garage space (and the wherewithal, of course), I would buy this in a second; it is that good. The body is virtually rust free - just a tiny bit at the bottom of a door corner. The...

What sharp eyes you have - didn't Grandmaw say something like that to the Wolf?
I noticed that in the photo as well - and that the HAI vac tube is missing.
The underhood sticker and the tube to the air cleaner should be the giveaway.
I made a note to check these and other items on Saturday.

Wow - I thnk a lot of people feel better about their Tercel after seeing yours (and - "There, but for the grace of God and birth, goes mine"...). Is something like this (or even approaching this) condition common in your neck of the woods - or just for old Asian (and French) cars? Because ...

Gasoline Fumes - Thanks ! ! !
WOW - this should be required reading - fascinating information! This is written with a technical bent, but directed toward us lay persons. The author certainly has the props for his explanations. Check out the entire site.

This one got by my eBay alert, as it is listed simply as a "Tercel". It looks pretty nice. There does not seem to be rust on it, at least from the photos, so I presume it must be from somewhere in the Southland? The seller is in the STL area, so I sent a reply advising of my ownership of a...

XLNT - Good Work !
Thanks for your effort. This is the best history I have seen.
Great for the link to us as well; it should help membership, particularly once sedan owners realize the parts commonality - a 3AC is a 3AC, after all.
So long as they don't strip a wagon for a sedan, that is...

Paul - You know, I thought at first that the VSV was the culprit, because of the tie-in to "A", the coolant temp switch, and the canister (Evap system) - rather than the function of "A" in the deceleration fuel cut-off relationship, which I detailed in the previous post. Especia...

Welcome ! Belts, hoses, PCV valves, thermostats, fluids, and air, oil, and fuel filters are relatively cheap and easy to replace if you are handy and so inclined - and with a modest array of tools. One item to definitely check is the notorious TVSV valve at the front left of the cam cover (do a Searc...

Not to knock anyone's suggestions/hints/help, but this would seem to be something that would require a professonal's advice, and cannot be that rare of a situation. How about trying a place that specializes in the preparation of engines for "real" dragsters? Those guys are pretty clever, a...

And pray, terceldude , what would the casual fabrication of custom wheels cost? Possibly more than a Tercel is worth - do you think? Perchance really ovalizing the holes will help in fitting? * I think I saw some Minilites on a Bigfoot once... Tom M. * EDIT - This was tongue-in-cheek...

Well, this is certainly an interesting thread about the oil leak... All of a sudden (last week), mine is leaking at the same spot as you two guys' cars - what gives? The leak is perhaps 10 +/- drops per day. I have scanty records on previous upkeep, beyond the head replacement and some brake work. T...

WOW ! With the OE 3AC ? And I thought I had a sheep in wolf's clothing with my '86 626... Can't wait for the pix ! Kind of probably a dumb question - but - will that wheel/tire combo be a load for the transmission/steering to handle? Gotta be a lot more weight/effort required than the stock items. T...

Steve - Check out some of my posts about RPM cycling between 1900 and 2300 (but only when warm). While different from your idle cycling, the cause may be the same. This persisted before and after all vac lines and the carb were replaced, plus the HIC, PCV, and TVSV gizzies. I was able to make this c...

I love the roof rack - esthetically, it adds a safari, "can-do"appearance, instead of the girly-man appearance of the stock rack - "Hi, I'm on here for decoration" (which my 'Goldie' has).
