xirdneh has a good suggestion. When I took up the slack in my throttle cable (as one one think is appropriate), I got a high idle and I must confess I did not diagnose the cause immediately; after all, the spring did pull the cable smartly against the stop... But - that slack lack was the cause. I ...

GTSSportCoupe - GREAT idea on valve lapping - wish I'd thought of this back when I did 3 Morris Minor heads in a row...I just used what I called the "Boy Scout Fire-starting Method" with the hand suction cup lapper twister thingie. Why not make this into an Official Thread for the Repair ...

I thought about replying with specifics as to the impracticality, illogicality, irrationality, and financially naif aspects of a bid.
But I shan't.
Sorry, terceldude, but do let us know when this is on Rice Street in Wellesley...

waynehoc - Thanks for the pictures. While my car lived in Nashville its prior 19 years and is truly rust-free, we do have salt here in STL - although none yet so far this year. I'll have to seal the areas in question this Spring. Re the plasticized material to which you refer - is it a mastic? And ...

Sweeeet ! ! !
Thanks for taking the time to reload (or whatever the procedure is called...).
I LIKE the wheels - what kind/brand are they, where did you get them, and how much? Gotta file this away for the future.

Mattel - Thanks for the pix. Yes it really is a clean car - guess the previous owners never had rug rats dropping ice cream and soda on the seats. I am curious about the two small black panels on the dash immediately below the instrument lighting rheostat; they are what? I had not expected all of t...

typrus - I will try to add a pix with a person in the passenger seat to allay fears of bodily interference. However, if Lollypop , as a self-described Big Boy, were to ride shotgun, this could be a problem ( L - this was written with tongue-in-cheek and hopefully you will not take offense  ) ...

Great Cupholder Dilemma Resolved !

Well - of this I am proud... I have solved the Great Cupholder Dilemma ! > > Note that this does not rank up there with the solutions presented by many members for our mechanical vexations, but it does make life with the Tercel Wagon a bit more tolerable... 1. Take a piece of 1/8" thick plastic...

xaserII - Has it been a long time since you've driven it? This identical situation actually happened to me with my '86 626 when I had not driven it for a month or so back in '89 (I had just purchased a pickup and was enamored of the truckin' experience for a while). Anyway, my lever was stuck in ne...

my first auto - If you want the FSM, you can order it direct through any Toyota dealer. I ordered mine through your friendly Barnes & Noble or Waldenbooks type (or any book store, I would presume). I ordered mine through B&N simply because I had some gift certificates. There was not a price...

I have heard that they are available new- I believe a number of Toyotas used the same switch, but am not certain. Apparently they do not go South all the time. I have not checked yet, but I'll bet they are pricey (surprise-surprise...).

RE: Beverly Hills - wonder if it was owned by someone who was "someone" ? ? ? Maybe someone should buy it quickly before Paris Hilton thinks it's "cute", buys it, and suddenly SR5s are surpassing Priuses (Priusii?) as the "in" vehicle in Hwood? Gosh - wonder if the Gove...
