Re: Air suction system
On the 87 Tercel I bought recently, there's a pipe & hose that connect the downpipe from the exhaust manifold to the air filter box. I presume that's similar to the california setup. The pipe is bolted to the downpipe where you guys have your oxygen sensor connected. This connection makes the car...

Re: Reworked Tranny Mount
My wife is the same. She wouldn't drive it anymore - "it has no airbags, no traction control, no ABS, no proper crumble zones" she would say. As if she would know what these are.

Re: Reworked Tranny Mount
If I was in the States or you in Australia, I would do it for nothing to help another Tercel owner.

Reworked Tranny Mount
This year I replaced my engine mounts and wanted to do the same with my tranny mount. Unfortunately I had a lot of trouble finding one locally. So I ordered a couple from Rock Auto. The ones I received were for the 2WD Tercel as they were wrongly labelled. The mount shown at the top of the 2nd photo...

Re: if you want affordable 195/75/14 AT/mud tread
I used to work for Goodyear Tyres and all the compounds that go into making the tyres were coded so that nobody would know the recipe apart from the chemical engineers I guess. I wonder if Walnut shells was one of them (in powdered form)

Re: Saved Another One From The Crasher
Thanks Matt. You must have a photographic memory. I guess he didn't join the forum nor did a write up for the club. That would've been very interesting.

Re: Saved Another One From The Crasher
Here are some of my thoughts, even though I haven't really done a lot of research into the electric conversion:- 1. Our Tercel is about 28 - 33 years old and it's getting very hard to get parts. Replacing the engine with an electric motor would help and will keep the car going. 2. For those that onl...

Re: Saved Another One From The Crasher
Thanks guys. I will replace the water pump this weekend and follow your suggestion Petros regarding the gear oil change.
As an aside has anybody thought of or converted a Tercel to all electric? Just something that crossed my mind as a project. Probably will be too expensive I guess.

Re: Saved Another One From The Crasher
I guess if I had not bought it, it would have gone to the wrecker as I was the only bidder. Most likely the wrecker would've crashed it as there's not a big demand for Tercel parts in Australia.

Re: Saved Another One From The Crasher
As you can see it is rust free, even underneath. I feel like I've stolen it at that price. I did a compression test on all the cylinders at the weekend with the engine cold. I don't want to do it hot until I've fixed the pump. They range from 165psi to 185psi.
