Re: Inquiry from the blue: "Want to sell your Tercel?"
It wouldn't hurt to replace the ignition lock and install a kill switch. I have two Tercels and I was able to start either car with the same key, until I replaced the ignition lock in my good one. In Oz, I doubt anybody would be interested in stealing a Tercel, so I'm leaning towards your first poss...

Re: VIN Numbers on all the windows
Mine hasn't. Maybe a previous owner had it done in case the car gets stolen.

Re: First issue
Just to add my 2 cents worth - one of my mates seized up a brand new Stihl chainsaw late last year because he forgot to mix oil with the petrol.

Archinstl, your makeshift puller looks like a very good idea.

Re: First issue
Simon, I know this sounds stupid, but don't be tempted to wedge the pulley out using a big screw driver or chisel. The pulley is made from casting material and the back flange is easily broken. This happened to me once and I had a lot of trouble finding a replacement pulley. Also the thin aluminium ...

Re: New to the group, couple of tire/rim questions..
These Miata wheels look like they were made for the Terc. I wish they had them in oz. I wonder if Mazda sold them under a different name here. I'll do some searching. Mattel would you know by any chance, mate?

Re: Fuel filter level?
Have you tried to start the car with the fuel line from the pump to the carbie disconnected? That will tell you if the pump isn't working.

I'm sure the engine won't be that good either if that's how it's been driven.

Re: 3AC or 4AC
Matt - I did a search on the 3A SCV and it looks like you are right. But I can't find what the difference is between the 3A and 3A SCV apart from the head being different. Do you know? I take it it is still 1.5L and 52KW rating.

Re: RockAuto Collector Magnets!
I think these magnets is a brilliant idea. I recently bought parts from RockAuto and received 2 magnets. One was a Jeep and the other one a Beetle. I gave the latter to a mate who has a Beetle and he was thrilled. I wish I had one for a Tercel as most of you I'm sure.

Re: 1984 Toyota Tercel DLX 4wd Automatic
In the photo of the engine compartment, there's a cylindrical shape part in front of the brake master cylinder/booster, I'm curious what it is. Can someone let me know, please, as I don't have one in either of my Tercels?

Re: Tercel Wagon needed for film in North California
I've always told my family that one day they'll be making an 80's movie in Melbourne, Oz and they'll be looking for good 80's cars and my Tercel will be in it. Now I've got two to double the enjoyment.
