Re: Installing Motor Mounts - Do Not Use My Method......
I used a hand winch or "come-along" on the garage overhead beam. Could use a large tree branch. I have also made a saw horse looking devise that rests on the fender seams and crosses over the top of the engine, you need one of these to drop a trans on a transverse engine installation.

Re: Brake question
to bleed the master, you should always do that first, you have someone pump it up and hold the pedal, and than loosen the 10 mm flare hose nut on the brake line until fluid leaks out. Do one line at a time. I put a large rag under it to catch the brake fluid, and than clean it off well with carb cle...

Re: Overheated. Won't start. Fearing the worst. Please help.
I think if you drive a Tercel4wd you are already feeling kind of intimidated and outclassed by just about every other car on the road (even by the lowly Kia!), so we can all identify and kind of emotionally bond together for the comfort of being in a group of other that drive the same geeky car. OTO...

Re: Brake question
bleed, bleed, bleed. You still have air in it, follow the procedure exactly (see FSM), and keep doing it until the pedal is firm. It is not that easy to get all the air out, i hate doing it, it is messy and troublesome. I may buy a "power bleeder" just so I do not have to do the pedal pump...

wow kurt, welcome to the list! You are certainly welcome here! Yes, please post pictures, pictures pictures! A turbo project would be a great addition. Where are you located btw? I have a couple of questions and some observations. What kind and size turbo did you install, where did you get it? I hav...

petros, i can hear your gears turning. don't do it, it won't be worth the headache. I already thought it through, even consider "production lining" several at a time and get good prices on carpet and upholstery kits, etc. I would even consider improving it by installing 4afe engines, up-d...

Use craizedlist to search all the local state craig's list at the same time. Traveling to nearby states are often worth while if you can find a good deal, or a decent fixer. Also you have to keep your eyes open for these cars in people's back lots, side yards, etc. Many people will stick these cars ...

lets see if the buyer actually comes through. Often times the "winner" in an auction is a no-show, and they relist the car.
Does that mean if one was to do a ground up restoration to effectively create a "zero" time Tercel4wd, we could get that much too? Or not?

Re: Leak near viser hinge area.
mine leaks the same way, not much but still annoying. My windshield was replaced by previous owner and I suspect it is getting in at the seal (was not done very well). It only leaks when the car is parked at a certain angle and it rains hard, and first time I put on the brakes I get dripping from th...

the larger hose on the side of the valve cover, comes off the base of the carb, plugs into the white plastic valve thing on the underside of the air cleaner housing. You have to plug it in when you install the airfilter by holding the housing low over the carb, but with enough room to get your hand ...

Re: 14 inch tire question, again
I went with a 195/60-14" on my 14" wheels, these are slightly larger dia, but not large enough to make a noticeable difference on the speedo. ON a hard bump on the left side sometimes I hear the tire scrap a bit on the inside of the fender, it does not do this on the right side, so I am ri...

Not all of the emission control equipment is a bad thing, for example there is a device that shuts off the fuel supply when you down shift. It lower emissions and saves fuel, so it is a win-win. The EGR cycle exhaust gas into the intake manifold so it lowers the peak temperature in the combustion ch...

Re: radiator?
A radiator chain called "Performance Radiator" sells a metal tank rad for the Tercel (their logo is a cactus), their price is competitive. Some around here do not care for the Performance radiator product but I have seen them and they are well made, if you can get the double row one from t...

Re: Another Newbie here
It appears a lot of details are different than North American Tercels. You may have a different distributor, I think you have a separate coil, ours has the coil built into the distributorship. As stated though the same year Corollas with the 4ac use the same distributor. You may have to order one fr...
