Re: OEM carburetor issue
Hello again, sorry was away. The fuel level is at the correct level in the sight glass. Also as I have been stating, when the car will not start the intake manifold has pools of gas. If it were a result of faulty float/needle valve, wouldn't the problem be present all the time and have nothing to do...

Re: New Exhaust on 86 Wagon
Thanks again, I realize all of that, though I am wanting to know what the factory set up was for this 86 wagon. Did the intermediate pipe have a flange/gasket where it connects to the muffler or not. Just because the present pipe and muffler has no flange/gasket doesn't mean it is correct. The previ...

Re: New Exhaust on 86 Wagon
Thanks again, I have been looking at mufflers for this 86 wagon and the diagrams show them as looking very similar to what is on my 83 tercel hatchback, which has a short curved pipe and a flange/gasket on the input side which mates to a flange on the intermediate pipe. The muffler on the 86 wagon t...

Re: OEM carburetor issue
thanks again for the reply. Still have not had a chance to further explore the problem. In your last message you stated " It will only flood when the engine is running". As I have explained, the flooding occurs before the engine starts and only when the accelerator pedal is depressed more ...

New Exhaust on 86 Wagon
Hello again, Need to replace both the muffler and the intermediate pipe. I observed that the intermediate pipe has a heat shield surrounding it, composed of two half sections. Would like to know how important it may be to reuse this shielding in the event that some of the shielding bolts snap off du...

Re: OEM carburetor issue
Thanks for the reply, Leaving for trip Sunday and winter returned so can not do much on this issue for a couple of weeks. Like usual the gas was sopped up and a hair dryer was positioned over the carb. throat It is worthy to note that the inside of the intake manifold remains dry, bone dry such that...

OEM carburetor issue
Hello all, About a 11/2 years ago I completely rebuilt the stock carb. What I have observed ever since is that if you dare give any more than a tap to the accelerator pedal, to engage the choke, the carb. is rendered into a flooded state and will not start until the gas is sopped up from the intake ...

Re: 83 Tercel Sedan cooling fan problem
Thanks for the reply! As I stated all fuses/relays check ok. When the ignition is switched on, power is supplied to either terminal 3 or 4 I forget which. The other day I checked for continuity between the black side of the fan connector and the relay terminal 3 or 4 which is energized by the action...

83 Tercel Sedan cooling fan problem
Hello all, I figured before I reinvent the wheel I'd put this problem out there. The fan runs fine when 12 volts is applied directly to the motor. All fuses tested good, The fan relay in the engine compartment fuse box was found to be defective and since replaced. I removed the connector from the fa...

Re: Removing wipper cowl quidance
Thanks guys, I appreciate the moral support, though unfortunately it is my nature to over think things. Haven't had a chance to address the problem yet. Also need to do this on my 82 Cressida, there is a water leak on the drivers' side coming down in proximity to the drivers side fuse box which I do...

Re: Removing wipper cowl quidance
Thanks again for posting these photos. Would you or any one know where/what is the snorkel area that has been made referenced to by some members. Also what is underneath the plastic screens shown in the cowl photos?
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Re: Removing wipper cowl quidance
Thank you for the photos! Was hoping to also get a step by step narrative of the process? Do you really have to remove the bottom glass chrome molding? Also do you have any photos of the mid cowl area and snorkel ? I gather the drain holes got substantially larger, sorry.
Thanks very much

Removing wipper cowl quidance
Hello every one!
Looking for either a link from some one who has successfully under-taken the task of removing the wiper cowl for inspection/cleaning with photos preferably?
Thank you in advance

Re: Exhaust bolts removal
The 4 inch angle grinder with a thin blade wins!!
What need be done is cut the head off the bolt from the flange on the opposite side of the cat, then you don't have to deal with cat body in the way.
Thanks again for the replies!
