Re: Get prepared...the end is near....?

Bottom line? The big game has changed and anyone who thinks things will stay the same will be surprised. Peal oil and/or a major low in oil/energy prices is here...now. Global warming is here. Food shortages...refugees...wars....here and on the way. The DENIERS are everywhere. I follow this as a ho...

Re: Replacement for engine shock absorber

Better get some non or soft metallic insulators at the frame. Those springs will wear the much softer frame away until you need a new hole. That's never pleasant.

Re: windsheild/window removal before painting

When I fixed the frame on my 84, rust had seperated everything but the bottom. Just had to push it out.

Duct taping both sides of the windshield beforehand contains glass explosions nicely.

Re: Get prepared...the end is near....?

I sure hope you aren't walking around town with a sandwich board stating the title of this post. haha Take a break, have some fun, turn of the faux news... I don't think you can blame everything on oil like this article states. It seems to me excessive/criminal greed at the top, and generally bad fi...

Re: Replacement for engine shock absorber

Very few parts guys can think outside the box and even less care. The few times I've been to the dealer it's always a new guy that has never yet even heard about a T4. Even got a smartass reply once of "you must really like that car". I shot back "do you find that unusual with Toyota ...

Re: Custom engine mount shock group buy?

Has anyone exhausted every option that is already out there before custom builds are done. Other cars/machinery have these and some come in stud configuration. Here's the first thing I could dig up in five seconds. Looks close. Probably at least a couple others out there that are close. http://www.a...

Re: Fairly clean fixer upper in Wisconsin

Great! At least 95% of $300 cars do need a lot of work. My last 2 terc's needed engines(for starters).

Keep us posted.

Re: How much fuel is in my tank? Indication idea help?

Some foam is fuel resistant. Look at a snowmobile fuel cap/gauge. They do come in various lengths. Just need to get threads on the tank. An outboard fuel tank could have what's needed too. OMC tank gauges are bolt on so mounting might be easier. I'm sure google could find other forms of these gauges...

Re: tercels everywhere

That is a lot! I think one year I saw 2-3. Usually it's one or less for fifteen years now. So far this year just a grandma in a mint 87-88 2wd that obviously had working a/c too. Could bode well for you in the future. Too bad you have to wait for something major to break on them, as most owners don'...

It does have a very bird like face, but I gotta agree it's hideous! I wonder how you get to the engine to work on it.

While we're complaining, aren't car show model's much hotter too?

Re: 62 horses in one hand

Certainly wasn't trying to brag. Just surprised by the light weight. One handed suitcase grab just to see if I could. Two handed straddle for the carry. Saved me from digging the cherry picker out just to move it a few feet. The real test today will be bench pressing out and back in while twisting a...

62 horses in one hand

Moving stuff around the garage and found out I can lift a terc engine(no manifolds) with one hand. Can carry it around with two. I expected 62 horses to weigh more.

Just an observation.....

Re: Stock carb - What should I expect?

Sweet low mileage. If you are getting 30+ you are doing pretty good. My 84 got 23. I tried fixing the carb(someone obviously there before me) nothing helped. Except the 8mpg bolt on weber! I wouldn't go that way on yours just yet. It sounds like it runs better than any of mine did when I got them. C...

Re: selling off whole vehcile as parts

What a shame. :( That would be a dream find here running or not. I doubt there are any T4 bodies in Mn. that are that clean. Any idea how much to ship rocker panel's and rear quarter tubs? I could use a gas tank too, but I'm sure they have to be 100% odor free to ship. Front fenders would be icing o...
