eBay '85 Automatic in Tulsa

This just popped up. It is an automatic and has what seem to be minor issues, but it does have only 80K miles and some new parts. The seller seems candid enough. The sun appears to have taken its toll - original paint? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4629333884&...

Welcome !
You will find that everyone is most helpful here, and there is a lot of good information.
I liked your mentioning "...my girls and their gear...", as that is exactly what I did with my then-new '83 and 3 girls who raced BMX.

I took my front squirter motor apart to fix it (actually worked, too!). After looking at the tiny gear pump lobes (whole gear size is maybe 3/8"x1/4"), I would have my doubts whether it would work on something as viscous as gear oil (let alone motor oil). Plus, the input/output tubes have ...

Amazing - I right-clicked on the missing photos, left-clicked on "Properties" and then copied the URLs, pasted them (one at a time) in the "address area" of the AOL tool board (don't laugh-I don't know what these blanks are called). Then both of the pix popped up in the regular F...

Well, I guess I'm missing something - but here goes... When you talk "siphon", do you mean a literal siphon system, with the original container held above the fill hole and the oil entering via only the siphoning process? Or do you refer to a (hand) pump system, whether one of those gear o...

Good point on the aluminum cam cover. It couldn't have been for a marketing point, as who looks under the hood of an econocar, even a 4WD Wagon? Overall, the 4-bolt support could be worked into more of a selling feature than an alloy cam cover. And - in those days, aluminum was definitely not as che...

Thanks for the note. It just looked to me (and frankly, still does), that the PCV hose leads to the OE rear hole in the cam cover, and another hose leads from a new hole to the Weber. I guess the Y-connection is just not visible (to me, anyway). Mr washer reference was actually to the nuts on the wh...

Again, very nice photos - and workmanship. A couple of questions: 1. Why are you not using washers under the nuts on the adapter? I've always been a believer in them, to "spread the load," facilitate even torque values and keep the nut from digging into the surface (unevenly). I noticed th...

XLNT photos!
Very sanitary installation - plus ditto engine bay.
Your writeup would be a plus to the genre.
I take it you do not have to worry about even lip service to emissions testing?

To which you add extra time on the assembly line, in the order entry system, and then the design time. And contacting the OE supplier and the extra setups on a stamping press and maybe a different bushing. And extra stocking at aftermarket warehouses. And probably more tiny costs I am forgetting. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4626187718&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1 It appears a member is already bidding on this one. Interesting comment about the driver's doorlock - mine had this and the bootiful STL one I looked at 2 weeks ago had an identical pro...
