Re: need small side glass
The T4wd is Gold with the "peanut butter" color interior, picnic blanket seats (pretty beat though), and the '86 2wd wagon is a light blue/gray if I recall.

Re: Oil drain plug gasket.
It seems to me a copper gasket like the one on the brake lines (where they meet the caliper) would work better, but I would still install the non-hardening gasket maker with it. The copper ones you can use over and over, another car I once owned used a copper gasket on the oil drain plug, and I neve...

Re: Stereo Upgrade
you can pick up old double knob radios at the wrecking yard, 2nd hand stores and even pawn shops, cheap. Use it to make your decoy. It is fairly common around Seattle to mount the nice stereo under the seat, and leave the factory radio (or a blank plate) in the dash. In the glove box is common too, ...

Re: In Finnland they have cars that run on wood!
Drive it to Burning man, you would be a big hit. Except you'd be STUCK...no trees there? As long as it was all brass/copper and kept polished...she'd be OK though. I can hear the Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang music already. There is a burning man there. Ha! a burning man powered car! We can burn al...

Re: need small side glass
it is not that hard to remove without cutting the gasket, remove the panel on the inside and you loosen the rear window track. It allows enough room to wiggle out the small window. There is an '83 or 84 Tercel4wd, and an '86 2wd wagon in the Arlington Pull-a-part (now "pick-n-pull"), exit ...

Re: Stereo Upgrade
My brother had this problem all the time, he always liked nice sounds in his car. I told him just put a cheap one in, and stop the thefts. He had hard riveted the stereo to the under dash, so they never got it, but they always broke open the windows, doors, locks, etc. Even took a pry bar to the das...

Re: In Finnland they have cars that run on wood!
in the late 70's I read an artical about Volvo making a wood burning car out of one of their current models. They drove it across Sweden in a demo drive, pulling a trailer full of wood. There was a cooker in the trunk that heated the wood and they would pipe the vapors forward to run in the engine, ...

In Finnland they have cars that run on wood!
http://gas2.org/2011/04/15/video-the-finnish-built-wood-burning-el-camino/ Truth is stranger than fiction, or so the saying goes. And I could not make this story up if I tried. A Finnish politician has converted his American-built El Camino to run on woodgas. How’s that for awesome? Juhas Sipilä’s 1...

Re: Oil Pan gasket and engine mounts
The oil sender is at the left side of the engine towards the front just behind the oil pump, ahead of the oil filter. It is hiding behind the alternator, and A/C if you have it. And yes, they can leak too. The front seal can leak down onto the oil pan gasket and run all the way around the pan. It ca...

Re: Dealing with extra horsepower and torque
Hey PrescottAZ, What did you have a 5afc in? Not a Tercel4wd was it? It sounds like your current carb, or several vacuum lines, are leaking. Tyipically when you get symptoms like that you have multiple vacuum leaks, or the hose are connected wrong. Trace through all the lines with the vac diagram fr...

Re: New guy from Victoria
I have lived on rural property since 1992, after growing up in the Los Angeles area. I think a lot of people from the cities have very mistaken, romantic, notions about people living in the country or remote areas. Though I do have some great neighbors, many of the others live there because they do ...

'85 TErcel hatch back JDM $6969 (scam?) in Tacoma
I see nothing in ad that indicates it is worth anything more than $400. The description below defies clear understanding, nothing in it makes sense, it is riddles with grammar problems and nothing indicates why he thinks it is so fast and worth so much. Scam? Or a delusional seller who does not spea...

Re: Left front wheel humming
What is it humming? could your record it perhaps and post it here so perhaps we might recognize the tune? :-) Could be wheel bearing, jack the wheel up and see if there is any play in the bearing when you push and pull sideways on the wheel. Also if you remove the wheel and caliper you can rotate th...
