Re: Walker aftermarket exhaust system (problem)
The metal hanger at the front of the cat is a seperate part- you have to re-use the old one or order a new one. Good luck!

Re: High Beam Stalk Electrical Glitch
Just re-read your post- you said that both filaments illuminate with stalk in one position- that eliminates All the other variables- has to be bad switch.

Re: High Beam Stalk Electrical Glitch
Most likely bad or dirty switch contacts. Had a similar problem with the wiper switch on my '87. The car sat for 9 years, and the wiper operation was erratic-sometimes they'd work, sometimes not. Seemed the more i fiddled with the switch, the more reliable the operation became. Since it was a DX it ...

Re: when are shocks bad?
There should be a large nut at the top of the strut tube. I clamp the strut in the vise and use a pipe wrench to unscrew the nut (i usually have to put a pipe on the end of the pipe wrench for added leverage.) Once the nut's off, the insert should just pull out of the strut tube. Good luck.

Re: Clacking On Starting *Update* Compression Test
Devin- You might want to see if the crankshaft pulley bolt is tight (the 17 or 19 mm one in the center of the crankshaft.) Years ago i was given a 2wd wagon by a former GF (long story-not going into it here.) Anyway, the engine had a loud knock that sounded just like a rod knock. Also the spark timi...

Re: Cruise Control
Road speed is picked up by wire-tieing a magnet to the driveshaft and mounting a sensor attached to the floorpan about 1/4 in. from it. As for install time- i'd say maybe 2 1/2- 3 hours. Biggest PITA is figuring out where to mount the hardware (never got to do an install on two of the same vehicles,...

Re: when are shocks bad?
My guess is you've got mis-matched inserts- the one that automatically extends is gas-filled and the other is not. Repacement inserts come either way (i prefer the gas-filled.) The PO probably only replaced one at some time.

Re: Cruise Control
Funny you should ask. Back in the early to mid '80s, i worked for an indie MB repair shop, and installed quite a few a/m cruise kits (the factory cc ecu's were unreliable and crazy expensive-$300 plus.) We could install the a/m kit for less than the MB ecu sold for. Anyway, one of our customers also...

Re: Various T4wd Parts
How's $100 for the trans sound- it came out of the '87 i recently converted to m/t and has a REAL 138k on the clock. Shifted fine (i put 200-250 miles on it before performing the "sex change") Asfor shipping, my guess is it would have to be shipped on a pallet by truck- probably 100-120 lb...

Re: 85 Tercel rear drive shaft compatibility
Front section of the rear shaft is different on a/t vs m/t - rear section is the same.
