Re: "The Nomad" my 84 sr5
Sadly my Oldsmobile did not pass emissions so I am working on that now instead of the tercel but here are a few gems my girlfriend picked up for me.

Re: "The Nomad" my 84 sr5
Thanks Mark I probably will go that route, I was thinking of rhino lining the wheel wells anyways, make them easier to spray out after adventures. Got the fuel tank drained out and removed, fuel lines out and the dash apart yesterday. Probably going to rain the next few days, so into the car tent I ...

Re: "The Nomad" my 84 sr5
A little progress on the project, sadly I came across a few spots of rust on the firewall, two pinky finger size holes, one under the wiper motor and another over the brake booster, so I shall be repairing those and painting the engine bay black. Anyone know if it is worth pulling the fenders off fo...

Re: ZERO compression on number 3
Pour some oil in #3 do the test again if you get compression then it's bad piston rings, if you get no compression it is a stuck or broken valve

Re: "The Nomad" my 84 sr5
So I have been a bit lazy about the project but some awesome road trips, and forest service road drives in the pick up have motivated me to get the project underway. Labled all my wires and hoses, drained the fluids, disconnected and removed everything in my way, supported the engine with a hoist, u...

Re: First issue
I just as soon stay with the Japanese cars that rarely require 80 to 90 ft-lb on the front pulley (none of mine did anyway, from Nissan to Mazda, 4 cyl and v-6 engines). My 92 Camry V6 3VZ needs 180 pounds on the crank pulley bolt. Helped a friend with a reverse spinning Honda engine (Japanese made...

Re: "The Nomad" my 84 sr5
Was pretty easy, I had the valve cover hot tanked when I rebuilt the head, I taped off the threads so bolts would reinstall easily and I rattle canned it with red high temperature engine paint then sealed it with a clear coat of the same paint.

Re: Highest RPM achieved?
I would rev my old 3a to 6k no problem but I had head work and a delta cam. Synthdesign's old 3a would do 8k it had oversized valves, cam, overbore, port polish, and was balanced

Re: Instrument Cluster From an old wooden Fence post
Exterior ambient temperature gauge, great for knowing when to keep an eye out for ice.
Analog clock would look sharp.
AFR gauge, useful for tunning.
Fuel pressure gauge.
Shift light.
No wait... Boost gauge for your turbo, hahahahahahaha
