Re: CUSTOM BUMOER IS ON AND BRIGHT AS HELL!!

did you by any chance weigh it? wonder how much weight it saves. I should weight the stock one (I have one I can weigh). I would think I could make a fiberglass one that weighs well under ten lbs.

Re: Clutch pedal release sector

never had an issue with any of mine, but perhaps the next time one shows up in the local wrecking yard I should get a spare. does anyone know if this part is the same for all manual transmission Toyotas at the time? seems if it has a cable operated clutch, they would all use the same self adjusting ...

Re: '85 Van AT on CL in SF, CA

I have driven them and worked on them. It is an odd sitting potion, out over the front wheels, which also makes rough roads uncomfortable because the vertical moment is exaggerated as compared to being between the front and rear wheels like you are in most other cars. the ride is kind of like the ol...

nice work!

I have been contemplating doing something similar in fiberglass, trim and streamline like the Euro-bumpers, and much lighter too.

Re: HELP! Drag car build 85 4WD tercel out of sebring FL

not really, unless you do some cutting and welding of the tunnel. the engine on the Tercel sits high so the front diff can be under it, the trans on both FWD and 4WD model, has an input shaft above the front and rear output shaft, the input uses an idler gear to the lower main shaft, so the rear out...

Re: 2001 Camry 5SFE random overheating

a rebuild kit is not exactly low cost either, they inlcude a lot of those torque to yeild bolts, as well as gaskets. If it needs a rebuild anyway, than getting a good engine and swapping it out is faster and usually cheaper than rebuilding it. You might look into getting an imported crate engine, th...

our corolla all trac had one of those rear roof lockers, seemed a rather odd feature. And almost useless.

Re: The Air Conditioning thread...

diagnose the problem before you try and fix it. I do not see why that would cause the valve to fail, all you would do is not get enough refrigerant into the system. It might, but I do not see how, he should not be putting that much pressure into the system. OTOH, if it has been a while it may have b...

Re: 2001 Camry 5SFE random overheating

always diagnose the problem before you try and fix it.

replacing the engine is a pretty drastic measure. OTOH, if you buy a crate engine for less than repairing your engine, might be worth it. That is if indeed it is the head gasket. That is why you need to diagnose it first.

Re: 2x Corolla All-Trac Wagons (Victoria BC)

Welcome to the forum, actually I have removed the trans in an all trac corolla to change the clutch, without removing the engine. took a bit of wrestling, but it is much much easier than pull the engine and trans together as the FSM says. if you have a complete donor car to do the conversion, I woul...

Re: 2001 Camry 5SFE random overheating

if you are going to spend the money on new head bolts, you might as well do it correctly. If it does not work you would have to buy another set of head bolts. since you may need to pull the head, I would try and retorque the head bolts as they are. Back off, and than tighten until you feel it yield ...

Re: car stalled won't start

fuel pump? also, check there are no cracks or leaks up stream of the fuel pump, it will cause it to suck air into the line and stave it of gasoline.

Also, change your fuel filter if it is old, it will need it and it could be the cause, or contributing to the problem.

good luck.
