Re: Wiper blowing fuse

you might try running a jumper wire, direct from the fuse to the wiper connector, disconnecting the factory wire. that is to eliminate the possibility that the wire bundle somewhere is abraded and causing a short. the motor itself can short out too, jumping it will tell you if it bad wiring, or the ...

Re: Master Brake Cylinder, Booster Nightmare

these boosters are pretty reliable, any one from a wrecking yard would likely be a safer bet than a remanufactured one. those should be fairly common, I do not know if they are the same one in the Tercel as the Corolla, not likely they are the same, but it would not be difficult to find out (cross r...

Re: Master Brake Cylinder, Booster Nightmare

too bad, I always avoid buying re manufactured parts, too many are junk right out of the box. Not worth any savings, but sometimes you have no choice. Get that master changed out. I had the same issue once, need one fast and local parts store cold only get remans, I spend hours trying to bleed the s...

Re: Parts worth taking?

almost any of the moving parts will eventually wear out and need to be replaced eventually, this is what I would suggets below, most are conditioned on if they are good assemblies: 1. complete transaxle assy (no matter condition, worth it for any usuable parts), drive shaft assy with center bearing....

great addition to your fleet. I could not think of a better person to own it, good for you.

a very nice car, I can not afford it, and if I had it I would need to drive it, making it worth less the longer I own it. you saved it from the normal fate of these cars.

Re: '83 SR5 @ Copart in Nashville TN

they are a wholesale distributor for wrecking yards. you need a resale or dealers licence to get into them. typically there are some small time resellers you can go with who will agree to buy it for a commission if you really want one of the cars in the yard. copart is all over the country, there is...

Re: 1983 Toyota Tercel 4WD SR5 : Life in Pictures / Lost & Found: RESTORATION DOCUMENTED!

I have worked for others in the past that did a complete strip and rebuild of a uni-body car, but I have been too afraid to try it myself. I might end up doing a lot more body work than I planned. most of our very used cars, including my 34 year old SR5 T4wd, have a lot of very minor dents and dimpl...

Re: suspension woes

those parts are commom and not too costly, best use was is designed for that car. likely rockauto.com has them. the front upper mounts can be interchanged, but the MR2 ones are 12mm (1/2") shorter, so either the MR2 will ride a half inch higher if you put in Tercel upper mounts, or a tercel will rid...

took the battery, the seats, and a few items from inside. that is all the details I have right now. Tweekers running loose in Seattle, will steal anything they can make a buck to get another high.

so if the head gasket was replaced, it could be driven across the country? you have a place it can be worked on there?

Re: LSD Solution

The way diffs work has always seemed like gearing wizardry... I would be interested in putting this in the rear so I can use the 4wd on the street if need be. the reason you can not use 4wd in the Tercel4wd on the street is it has no center diff, like the AWD cars. putting in an LSD does not change...

nice picture of your Tercel4wd, Panamint Valley?

have you done the head gasket mod I outline over in my Head Gasket procedure? should help even out the cooling in the head.
