Re: Lift kit???
YES! as DLB said, I did cut up a white plastic cutting board to use on my front lift. I used a black rubber spring spacer that I carved flat where the U shaped channel in. I basically turned it into a big rubber washer. Then I added another 1/4 inch using the cutting board that I cut into the same s...

Re: Front mounted winches?
I have a winch mounted inside my grill. I did not remove the bumper to install it. I was dropping the cross member as part of a lift, so I tied into the top end of the 2 bolts for that ( just underneath the battery). I also added a piece of angle iron between the bumper mount bolts. So I did undo th...

Re: Gambler SR5 - Introduction & mystery part
Similar thing happened to me about 5 yrs ago (in Canada so there may be some different legalities etc.) but in my case the damage was very minimal. Just a small dent to the front and rear door and they still opened and closed perfectly. Repairs came in at about $2k and they rote off the car. I ended...

Re: Bought my 1st 4WD Tercel!
I have a cherry bomb muffler on my tercel. It's not much of a muffler really. With no catalytic converter, I found it too loud. Now with the cat installed again, it's much better. A little louder than stock, but not enough to be annoying.

Re: Tercel back on the road
I ordered a new cat from rock auto and seemed good for a few minutes. I should have listened to myself when I said I'd just go to a muffler shop and pay. I went to install the new cat myself and was in a rush to get it done. When I was jacking up the car, the rear diff slipped off the floor jack and...

Re: CV Axel Blowout
Check your carrier bearing. I replaced mine recently once I got my new trans and new exhaust installed, It was making a big knocking noise and it was the drive shaft hitting the exhaust pipe. My old carrier bearing was sagging in the rubber donut that it sits in. It was pretty easy to do. I followed...

Re: Tercel back on the road
I took a little internet dive into cat problems. Plugged up cat can cause misfire. I think that's what is happening. And it started when I added the cat into the exhaust. Same cat I had on there before with a semi rotten exhaust and a cherry bomb muffler which was working ok. I scavenged an exhaust ...

Re: Tercel back on the road
Yeah, I'm wondering about a vac leak. the RPM's tend wo drift up and down a tiny bit every few seconds. I've set the idle down and I noticed the throttle assembly was a bit sticky. I sprayed grease on it and seems to be better. It also still seems to be rough sometimes on acceleration since I put in...

Re: Cardone CV Axle troubles
I just installed a set of Cardone cv axles and had a heck of a time getting them in. Had to pound on them pretty hard and on first attempt they were not all the way in and the passenger side axle wore out my wheel bearing in 200km. It was causing a lateral oscillation with pressure between the trans...

Re: Tercel back on the road
My idle was around 1100, so I' adjusted that and reset timing. Seemed to run a bit better today.
Doesn't want to idle at first at 700, and needs to warm up a bit first. I guess that's why I had it a bit high.

Re: Gambler SR5 - Introduction & mystery part
I notice you are missing the steering column cover plastic (it's 2 parts that screw together). I have a few random spare parts that I'm looking to get out of my garage, including those parts. 20210515_172742.jpg Let me know if you are interested. I'd send them if you pay shipping. also, tail light i...
