Changing brushes is very easy. Once you get the end cap off, it's pretty obvious how to change them. Two phillips screws, if I remember correctly. Use a relatively new screwdriver, a worn out one will strip the screw heads. Worn brushes usually cause intermittent charging, like maybe only at ...

It's a good thing I live way out in the country. I do too, but I still have to comply with stupid zoning laws. I can only have one unregistered car. I have five right now. The trick is to stick spare plates on them and move them around every few days. Or hide 'em in the woods. Anybody wan...

I think they're all in here: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/0903/gasolinefumes/Hornbeam/ Are the pics broken in the original post? I'll try to fix them when I get a chance. The Tracker might even be a better choice than the Swift if that aluminum intake piece will fit under the hood. I hate the S...

I don't really need it....

I found a 1988 SR5 for sale. Even has a factory sunroof! "Not getting gas," the owner tells me. It's rusty, no brakes, over 200k miles. He said I could have it for $100. I tried to buy it for $75, but he wouldn't. I'm probably crazy for not buying it at $100, but I have over 5 cars begging...

I've heard good things about HOAT coolants like G-05. Zerex sells it. According to Master Technician magazine, DexCool isn't all that great. They recommend replacing it once a car's warranty is up. VW coolant is apparently very similar to DexCool. The magazine seems to like the G-05 or the tradition...

I don't know if this helps, but the manual and power racks use different columns.

That's the first time I've heard anything like that about KYBs. I was very happy with the set I put on my old Civic. They do have a lifetime warranty, don't they?

TBI sounds good! :D

I'd check those solenoids on the carb. I think there's two? I believe they shut off the fuel while coasting in gear and/or when shutting off the engine. At least one should move with the key turned on. You could just temporarily hot wire both and see if you get an idle.

The '87-'90 Tercels with the 3E engine deserve a hate site.

if you had a Honda, you could not do a timing belt at home. It requires very specialized tools. Which Hondas? I've done timing belts on quite a few Civics and an Accord. The only thing making it more difficult than a 3A-C is that the engine mount needs to be unbolted. But I don't consider a scissor...

I'd say the hardest part is the wiring. Luckily the Suzukis have a separate wiring harness for the EFI, but there are quite a few connections that need to be made to the Tercel's wiring. Off the top of my head, you need +12v memory, +12v ignition, RPM and VSS. I can send you the Suzuki wiring diagra...

What kind of fuel are you using in the 300SD? I have a 1985 300D that I'm trying to get fixed up and converted to run on veggie oil. The first step is to get the auto transmission to stop slipping. :?
