Re: 14 IN mud tires

Some folks are saying if you mess with the factory size tires you will loose clearance and it could eventually mess up your drive train...can it wear wheel bearings out? could it mess up 4x4 ? I really like the looks of the 14s and they are more available than stock 13s but I am reluctant to put on ...

Re: Removal of Tailgate Strut Supports

Oh my bad, I forgot that the replacements come with the balls separate. For those, you screw the ball into the car, place the socket over it, and slide the clip into place. The clips are pretty tight so it's a little annoying but not too bad. Thank You! I am happy to get results here faster than Re...

Re: Removal of Tailgate Strut Supports

You must remove the nuts at the end of the lift supports from the car. I believe they are 12 mm. Use a piece of lumber to prop the trunk fully open and undo the nuts at both ends of the lift support. Then just thread the new ones in. It's an low effort/high reward fix, very satisfying when you don'...

Removal of Tailgate Strut Supports

I have tried several methods to remove these supports. There is no convenient clip that can be removed with a screwdriver. Some are suggesting to remove the ball from the hatchback frame but I am reluctant to do this as I am not a mechanic with lots of tools to repair my mistakes. How do you all rem...

Do these yards offer to take parts off and ship it to you? It does not seem like that is the case, but I thought I would ask anyway. I am in Montana and need parts for my hatchback and front drivers side panel, among other things.

Re: Considering Selling My '85 Tercel Wagon

Where are you located? I'm assuming Montana based on the license plate. I would love to help with the mechanical issues but unfortunately I am in Michigan. I can offer you a tail light for the cost of shipping if you would like. Yes, I am near Kalispell, Montana. I would be glad to accept your help...

Considering Selling My '85 Tercel Wagon

Snowflake has 149k miles on her. I do love this car BUT I have near zero mechanic skills and it has been really hard to find a reliable mechanic who takes pride in his work repairing a relic. AND Her e-brake just failed which caused her to roll down my driveway into my Toyota Hilux. She now has: - b...

Re: Wiper Linkage Assembly - How To Fix This?

Here are a few things I found, does anyone know if these will work as replacements? I have copied and pated the links, not sure how to add the links with pictures yet. http://www.ebay.com/itm/91-92-93-94-95-96-97-98-99-Toyota-Tercel-Wiper-Transmission-Linkage-NEW-LIFETIME-/300318116185 http://www.eb...

Wiper Linkage Assembly - How To Fix This?

I have managed to render my wipers unusable with record snow fall and below zero temps  From what I understand the 'wiper arm link' has popped out of the 'fixing circlip' which seems to be deteriorated. I may have parts available 50 miles away (driving with no wipers), but do I really have to ...

Hello! I cannot find the New topic button to start a thread... I saw activity here and thought I'd ask. I read the Q&A and looked around with no luck. Is the site still 'under construction'?

Re: Plastic Connector/Coupling For Rear Wiper Linkage Arm?

So, it seems that my 'dome coupling' has broken on my front wiper. If I am getting this correctly it seems as though I am done for. Do I really have to buy a whole new wiper kit ($300 is what I'm being told for a whole new set up)? What if I find a dome coupling on another Tercel? Please help. If an...
