Re: Unidentified Problem.

I would highly doubt the it has anything to do with the transmission. More likely I would suspect that the extreme vibrations cause an electrical or vacuum connection to come loose. Start looking around the engine bay for something out of place.

Re: Genesis of the Tercel 4wd found!

It actually had been parked there for some time. There may be a reason for it sitting in storage.

Genesis of the Tercel 4wd found!

Went to my storage unit and saw this gem parked off to the side. These were a somewhat unsuccessful first attempt at a lightweight 4wd wagon. I remember seeing them around. They were first offered in 1979.

Re: Effective Tercel Searches

In Petros' defense in Washington we don't have car inspections and many state inspections vary even between different counties. Looks like the only three things remaining to get fixed before it is licencable are:
1. New muffler
2. Have the headlights aimed
3. Bolt the license plate back on.

It's about time to tow the 4Runner home and put the diesel engine back in it.

Re: Another Seattle AL25 member

front exhaust pipe bracket that comes off the bell housing has a metal clamp. It often works loose and than jingles. It will sounds like it is under the passengers feet. Also, check your heat shielding on the exhaust sysetm, and there are clamps on the freash air inlet to the catalyst that can also...

Re: Another Seattle AL25 member

I've been hearing a jingle from underneath my car lately. I've had it up on ramps several times to try to locate something loose that might be causing the sound, but can't find anything. Any ideas or suggestions?

Re: Bushing identification help

Yeah definitely sway bar bushings. I just replaced mine with these polyurethane ones. They are excellent quality.

Re: 83 Tercel 4wd parts

no tercel had adjustable intermittent wipers, I am pretty sure they all have a non-adjustable intermittent position. there is a thread in the archives to adapt an 84-87 SR-5 Forerunner adjustable intermittent stalk to the Tercel, connector is compatible so it only takes a few tweaks of the column c...
