Re: Tercel differential rebuild questions

Noise on deceleration in 2WD indicates worn front diff pinion and gear, not rear diff. You can remove the front cover of the diff and look at the wear pattern on the teeth. That's been my experience in the past.

Re: Drove for 5 miles with the parking brake on.

Hi Aslich, I would also recommend a visual inspection of the shoes to make sure they are not cracked or de-laminated. With the drum off you can do a more thorough check of the park brake lever function. Have a helper apply the e-brake and watch the lever move and make sure it retracts fully. If you ...

Re: Converting an auto trans to a stick shift - its possible!

The relay I photographed was under the kick panel near the fuse box. I honestly don't remember what it's function was anymore.

Re: Converting an auto trans to a stick shift - its possible!

Hi eightfive4WD. It's been so long since I did that conversion. I seem to remember the car wouldn't crank until that relay was installed but I'm not sure anymore. For the wiring harness, both the automatic and standard plug into the same connector in front of the distributor. I did not have to do an...

Re: Sun visor easy upgrade.

Reviving an old thread. Wondering if anyone else has found a larger visor that is a direct fit other than the 87-91 Tercel?

Re: after many years, I'm finally back in the T4 game

Welcome back! Your car looks like a project for sure and congrats on diving into such a big job. Nice jack for sure, but I'm drooling over the concrete floor. That makes any job so much easier.

Re: is this a tercel?

Gee, they should have dropped it off at my place. I could use it on the property. That's nearby, but I've never seen it.

Power Steering Stiff

I have a general question to put out there about my DD. A few years ago, I put power steering in this car. I am aware of the debate of PS vs manual. The parts came from a donor car that I had never driven directly. The steering was always easy, you could turn just using your fingertips, not like oth...

Yes Petros, I searched the archives and only found information about complete drive shafts.

Thanks NWMO. Great info.

Welcome to the forum. I'm glad the Tercel community is growing in Revelstoke. If I ever make it up that way, I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Re: Wanted: several spare parts

I see it's listed on their web site. It would be good to know if it's in stock. Two stores I checked were out of stock.

Re: Wanted: several spare parts

I contacted the manufacturer directly, several years ago when I needed a tank. They told me they were not making it anymore. Maybe that has changed. I see on their web site they still list the tank, but not the sending unit (tube assembly).
