Its almost adventur time. Rack and Tent install.
Hey there! Some of you may remember last year I took the Tercel on an off road adventure with my friend and their big trucks. This year I'm doing it again! and hopefully no mechanical issues on the trail ;) In preparation for this years trip I got a roof top tent. I've wanted one for years, but this...

Re: did they send me the right part? heater core (pics)
Any reason why this heater core will not fit my 83? All the listings for the 94666 say its only good for 84-90. Did they really change something after 1 year? http://www.ebay.com/itm/HVAC-Heater-Core-Spectra-94666-fits-84-90-Toyota-Tercel-1-5L-L4/171929385058?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkp...

Re: did they send me the right part? heater core (pics)
Well, turns out the heater core is almost as hard to buy as it is to pull! I got an email back from RockAuto informing me they didn't have another heater core to ship me, but would refund my money, and provided me with a shipping label. I ordered from RockAuto before checking the local placed becaus...

Re: did they send me the right part? heater core (pics)
I got an email back from rockauto, they said it sure does look like the wrong part with the right number stuck on it. I sent them a picture form their own page showing that the part they're advertising for our cars is that part number and has the correct pipes that look nothing like what I got. So t...

Re: did they send me the right part? heater core (pics)
I just checked the RockAuto part number. It matches the part number on the heater core sitting on my desk. but the picture on their site looks like the one I've seen before with the tubes going up and down.

I broke my heater core, the tube coming out into the engine bay. I've replaced it before, but the unit i used before was out of my parts car. This time I thought I would get a new unit, cause its a bear of a job and no since in doing it twice. I ordered the new heater core from RockAuto. They shippe...

Re: Up and over the Sierra Nevada
We've talked about going to that part of the Sierra. My friend who rode with me in the Tercel use to live in Auburn and would ride his motorcycle around those roads out by Foresthill. One time him and I took his 86 MR2 out there for a drive and got stuck in the show trying to get to French Meadows. ...

Re: The long road to recovery... maybe
Oh! I needed the head gasket! the exhaust was steam like Old No. 38! The water burping problem after that. I'm just happy I got it all sorted so I can drive her on the adventure this weekend. For Reference: http://www.northcoastbrewing.com/images/Old-No-38-Stout-Brand-Image.jpg I think I can say thi...

Re: The long road to recovery... maybe
The expansion tank works similar to a Hooka. if there is air in the radiator it vents to the expansion tank via the straw, bubbles up through the water and the pressure goes out the 90* tube. no problems. But when I installed it backwards, the pressure went into the tank, then the only way for the p...

Re: The long road to recovery... maybe
Yes, the over flow, the little 90* tube from the expantion tank was hooked up to the straw on the cap. the radiator was hooked up to the hole in the cap. thus backward. The tube fitting the goes to the straw should go to the radiator, and the one that just a hole in the cap goes to the 90* tube. Its...

Re: The long road to recovery... maybe
I discovered the water belching issue! I replaced the cap to the over flow tank when I did the head cause the other ones plastic died of old age. I hooked it up backwards. The new cap makes a good seal, so when any pressure from the radiator was released into the tank it was pushing that coolant up ...
