Re: Great Condition 86 SR5 - For your eyes first!!

Hey,
The wheels are off a Mazda - I forget which one, grabbed them at the Denver Pick n Pull about 5 years ago. I do like the looks of them for sure.

Here's the post on Craigslist
http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/4972747005.html

Figured I'd offer you all a better deal than the general public.. :)

Great Condition 86 SR5 - For your eyes first!!

Hey Folks, I've been a forum member for a while, and this is my second T4WD. I just got a job in Kenai Fjords NP in Alaska and am moving up there with my GF in a couple weeks, so I had to upgrade to a Tacoma. I bought this Tercel in CA in October 2013 with a dead engine and ~168,000 miles on it. I f...

Re: Barto's Ultimate Adventure Wagon Build-up (Update may 18

Hey peculiarodor, I've been running the Pathfinder/T-Bird combo in the rear on two different Tercels for quite a while now with the sway bar in place. I've never noticed any contact between the axle & bar, nor too much shifting or cracking of the attachments - on my car it only adds about 1"...

Re: Car might be up for sale

Seriously GotToyota? quit worrying about your flywheel already and just change the clutch. It's really not that hard, you don't need a new flywheel, and it's easier to change the clutch than to buy a new car, and resurfacing should only take a half hour. It's heavy steel and unlikely that you've sli...

Killed my tercel, saved another

So this past summer was the summer of car work... As mentioned here (https://tercel4wd.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9434) I burnt an exhaust valve which then shredded the cylinder, replaced the engine with a picknpull engine that has 63,000 on it. I had just left the pickandpull in October aft...

Re: A journey through the engine - Update 2

That's something I've definitely been thinking about Keith. While I live in CA, I only work here seasonally so have kept my car registered in Colorado, which I assume means I can do pretty much whatever I want :) I imagine there's more info on the Weber carb threads, but why/how much better is it? I...

Re: A journey through the engine - It's Alive!

Hey all, It's ALIVE!!!! 092813_0166turcel.jpg (This was just this morning after driving over the Sierra Nevada to the Owens Hot Springs :P ) Been working like a crazy man on this project, and it wouldn't have happened without some key advice from Petros. So yes, the exhaust valve imbedded metal chun...

Video with my Tercel

Hi Folks,
I'm working on my Tercel and back on the forums again - so thanks for all the info on here! I thought I'd share a little video I made last year with a cameo from my Tercel. Check it out: http://vimeo.com/50570964

Re: A journey through the engine - with pictures!

Hi All, Keith, I bet we did meet over at the Mono Inn a few months ago! I looked into new engines, but they were running about $1500 from the phone numbers I got around here. I went to the Pick and Pull in Modesto today and found an '87 Tercel Hatchback with 68'000 miles on it. I started pulling off...

A journey through the engine - Update 2

Hi All, It's been a while since I've been off the forums, and finally I got an issue I can ask you all about! Some background, I got this car from my sister for $1, and it used to be my grandma's before that. It's been on way more adventures than I can count, and currently lives a great life in Yose...

Left front wheel humming

So the little beast has developed a humming in the left front wheel. It is accentuated when I turn right (body rolls and shifts weight to the left side) and decreases when it is less weighted. I suspect it to be a wheel bearing, and was wondering if folks have some advice about replacing front wheel...

Re: Huge THANKS Petros and his wife

Nice work!
That sounds about like the time that I spent two nights in Petros' basement while learning how to replace my clutch, except that we didn't have to pull the whole engine. Someday I aspire to know that much about cars...

Re: Can someone write up rear brake shoe step by step?

Allright. So I pulled apart my drums just to get some info on what was going on yesterday. As I said, braking has been feeling a little less than snappy lately and the emergency brake hasn't been holding super well either. DSC_4013.jpg This is the general condition of the brakes. A bunch of that bla...

Re: Barto's Ultimate Adventure Wagon Build-up (Update may 18

Yo Team I did the rear lift in August before a road trip from Colorado to Cali to move all of my stored stuff (didn't want any ugly bottoming). I grabbed the springs off a 1990 Pathfinder. Super easy. Most of the time spent on this project was compressing and uncompressing the springs to get them ou...
