Re: Shipping a transmission cross country?
I did it and it was a pain for both me and the buyer. It is difficult to box up, and I am speaking from personal experience. You have to build a sturdy wood box that can be picked up by a fork lift. It ends up being a quite large box that is hard to load into a Tercel 4wd...and then finding a shippi...

1986 6 speed transmission and third member
Hello all, 1986 6 speed transmission and rear member with 154,000 miles. I have been a Tercel owner for over 13 years and have gathered many parts but now it is time to let some parts go. How does $350.00 U.S. sound? Willing to work to get it to you to save another Tercel4wd! In the 84105 zip code.

Re: Lookin for a tranny in AK 4wd 5speed man
Trannys ARE hard to come by! I searched the local junkyards for close to 2 years before getting one! Then I pulled 2 more in the following weeks that were in the junkyard! Feast or famine! I hope you will find the same luck. These cars ARE worth saving! I think the best bet is to make twice weekly t...

Re: Vacuum Advance
Got my two in the mail... Looks like it will work perfectly! The ports are bent differently than the stock one, but the vacuum lines will reach. Now I just need to source a Toyota gasket set and get my little one leak free and getting 35 mph! Thank you irowiki!!!!!!

Re: Barto BC Lift Questions Are you Happy?!?
Thank you for the information. I think I will cool my jets and reconsider the Barto BC Lift. I feel the same way as Petro's as to what my needs (and not wants) are for this old trustworthy rig. I will start to gather parts from the local pick'n'pull this summer and try to preform my "lift"...

Re: Barto BC Lift Questions Are you Happy?!?
Thank you for the great information, Petros! It looks like you have done quite a bunch of research into this matter.... When will you be preforming this lift for yourself? Do you plan on lifting the front at the same time as well? Or in a two part operation, first with the rear (in and out, cut, the...

Re: Barto BC Lift Questions Are you Happy?!?
Thank you for the quick reply.... I have the same thoughts on a "big Barto BC Lift" for my little Tercel. I just want a little more, not much, (just to hold close to 200 pounds of bikes on a rear rack, not to see the cool/remote places Barto got to) it's my turn the key and go car in snow ...

Barto BC Lift Questions Are you Happy?!?
For starters, I have used the "search" button..... a lot!! How has the Barto BC Lift worked out for you all? (Camery coils front, pathfinder in back. NO cutting boards!!!) 1) Happy? 2) How much lift did you end up getting? 3) Did you change tire size? If so, to what size? Happy? 4) Is your...

Re: A New Year’s Resolution....
I have made the resolution to rebuild my 1984 tercel 4wd with the great help from Rock Auto! I have had nothing but a great experience with Rock Auto! Great service and great prices and the parts needed for any job! I was able to get a complete exhaust system from Rock Auto without any problems! Wor...

Re: replace other parts when replacing tranny?
I am replacing my 6 speed transaxle with a junkyard transaxle with 169.00 miles. I replaced the rear main seal on the engine (easy), new clutch disc/ pressure plate, surfaced the flywheel by wet sanding it on a plate of glass, left the orginal bearing in the flywheel and the throw out bearing per ad...
