I discovered this hubcap in the spare wheel well of my '86. Dunno its raison d'etre, as the car has OEM wheelcovers. It had been sprayed black, which might be removable. It is intact but for the inner ring, which is deformed in a couple of places (see photo). It it should fit OK, though. Anyway, it ...

Well, I was going to suggest to T______s_A______n that he cut Typrus some slack, but in retrospect would just suggest that he chill out. It is certainly not a new member's prerogative in any organization to "cut some slack" for someone who has been a member as long as Typrus and who has co...

The question about the Wrights not using wheels on the "Flyer" always puzzled me as well, particularly as a former bicycle store owner. I remember asking my Mother (who had a pilot's license back in the early 1930s), and she said that someone had asked that question in one of her classes b...

Please check my post of yesterday ref Typrus' post in "High MPG": " Typrus is sixteen, as were we all, once..." When I was sixteen, back in, yes, 1956, my first car was a 1946 Ford V8 convertible. My Dad was right; it was a dog; but it was mine, and I had grandiose plans for it w...

Hello, GTS - I voted for a sticker, but have a possible problem: I do not do PayPal as a matter of principle. I had some difficulties with it in some of my eBay sales of bicycle stuff (over 2300 sales), and so have a fiat concerning it on my auctions. It's a philosophical difference, and of course i...

OK - I removed the carburetor to retorque the manifold bolts, per takza's recommendation. I can also now see the Heat Control Valve, which has been so elusive. HA - I'd like to know how its action is checked when warm, per the FSM! It did not mention about needing asbestos arms... My question for an...

I went to photobucket and listed the two embarrassingly HUGE pix of my EGR items a few days ago (mea culpa). Believe me, they really are not bad at all. Anyway, since I am quite computer ignorant, I went to photobucket' help, and after giggling, it suggested I use, as a start, a size of 800x600. My ...

Well, I am compelled to add my two bits. I owned one of the first SR5s in St. Louis in late 1982, so recall the new performance. It had no A/C or roof rack to detract from performance (can't recall if it had P/S to sap the output). It was a stick. In suburbia driving the MPG was usually in the mid-t...

Chris - Thanks for the tip on finding the HCV. I was just about to give up on it. As many times as I was under/over/around the manifold, with several sizes of mirrors, I still missed it. Now - how easily is it supposed to move? It DOES move, but kinda "rustily". There does not seem to be m...

Well - I'm snickering myself now......... What did I do wrong ? There are two photos, each with 2 images. All I get on my monitor is two huge pix of 1/2 of my original photos. Tom M. P.S. To give you an idea of my "technical background" (other than bicycles), we still used slide rules when...

HELP - I have 2 .jpg photos to post of the EGR valve, but am clueless as to how to proceed (go ahead, get your snickering out of the way now...). They are quite clear and saved on my desktop, but that's it. My photo posting has been limited to eBay for three years, having done over 2K auctions for b...

takza - thank you for confirming something I suspected about the EGR valve's effects. I suspected this because of what happened last year with a new Jasper Mitsu 2.6 engine installed in my '88 Ram 50 by a highly recommended local shop. One of several problems I later had to diagnose and fix myself w...

Thanks to takza and 3A-C for the advice. Guess I'll hold off on the shock and see what I find when I do the mounts sometime in the next few weeks. I'll explore the industrial avenue for the shock when I get that far.
