Re: Engine Swap options
I went thru all of these options and figured the 4age was the best bet. I have an 85 w/ a 4ac and it doesn't feel as powerful as a 3ac w a properly tuned Weber set up. So far the 4age swap is becoming a bit of a thinker but I still beleive it is possible. As for power, yes it peaks at higher rpm's v...

Re: Difference in differential gear ratios
Yes..... 4WD will work but your risking blowing up a trani, grenading a diff or throwing a driveline. Neither is fun and all can total a vehicle in a few minutes. I speak from prior experience and all it takes is a moment from loss of traction to traction in 4wd w/0 matching ratios and boom.... ,tha...

Re: 4AGE swap into 85 4WD
I finally started pulling the old 3AC and cleaning up the Silver Bullet. I decided to do a head gasket and see if I could have a running motor to pull(spare?) instead of a problem for later. Threw on a rebuilt distributor and it fired right up. So....Up on jack stands and rollups. The 4AGE is on the...

Re: Seattle Area Tercel 4WD Meet
Banners huh. I do screen printing and textile design. I can print on just about anything flat. If you can get me art work in an .AI file I can print some banners up. I'm working on a few shirt ideas now. I got the artwork from the tercel leaflets last night to play w/ . Also, I really want window ba...

Re: Some nice tercels
Hey that"s me...... :P I made the bumpers myself. It's been transferred from 3 different tercels so far. I try and make everything with factory tie points so I can swap it to another vehicle when something bad happens. Back up lights are sweet for backing out of trail or dealing with a tailgate...

Seattle Area Tercel 4WD Meet
I'm wondering if anybody in the PNW is up for a meet/lite offroad excursion. I've seen quite a few old Tercel's out and about in the area and think it would be great to add some new members and get to know other local tercel owners. I had a great experience hosting my first meet last week(random occ...

Re: 4AGE swap into 85 4WD
I'm still waiting to hear back from the Machine shop's welding guy regarding the flywheel, but it sounds like they can be match machine the 4AGE flywheel to the ring gear of the 3AC flywheel :D The issues: 1) Fly wheel Fitment/ bolt pattern issues. ( also must be mated to a starter) 2) Exhaust...(wr...

Re: Differentials
Running a 4.34 and 3.73 mixed diffs leads to catastrophic transmission failure. I replaced a rear end in my 2nd 4wd tercel w/0 checking what the front diff gearing was. It drove fine for the first six months. The 2nd time putting it 4wd in the snow and kaboom. Transmission became stuck in 2nd gear a...

Re: Best replacment parts for a new clutch?
Looks nicer than the Sachs one I have laying around.
As for the best Clutch/Pressure Plate, I believe Exedy(also toyota OEM) makes the best one out there for the 3ac.
They are rated to 215hp, funny since the tercel 4wd has about 63hp......
Just my .02

Re: WTB 83/84 flipflop drivers side mirror
Yes, buffalomesa has it explained right. The bolt triangle pattern is different too.
Thx,
Don't worry about shipping one to me. I figure there has got to be one locally.
Gotta start a PNW swap meet or something.

Re: Clutch trick
I've never had a problem pulling it off by hand, but the crescent wrench is a good idea.
